Certificate of Graduate Study in Biomedical Science

This one-year certificate program offers graduate level training in a number of areas of biomedical sciences. It is designed for individuals seeking to further enhance their background in the basic health sciences prior to entry into professional schools including medical, dental, veterinary and osteopathic medicine schools. This program is not intended to provide undergraduate-level training in pre-medical course work needed to get admission into medical or professional schools. Instead, the program is designed to make post-baccalaureate students more competitive for admission through extensive graduate-level course work in the areas of anatomy, genetics, physiology, immunology, biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, and neuroscience along with several other courses in the biomedical sciences. In addition, students will attend sessions in the ethics of medical science and the preparation of a professional school application. There will also be mock admissions committee interviews and other sessions focusing on successful admission to medical school.

It is expected that students will enter the program at the beginning of the fall semester and will make applications to medical school at the end of the fall semester or the beginning of the spring semester.
